Photo Challenge: Moods
Some will think this is a lame attempt. In some ways, it is. I was having trouble deciding on a mood for which I could find sufficient subject matter (or the motivation to hunt it out).
I went out to my patio this morning to water some plants that were withering in the heat. I noticed that despite the smoldering temperatures the past few days, somehow a new cluster of blue flowers had appeared on a potted hydrangea plant.
Then the sight sort of hit me on another level. When one is under the grips of depression and anxiety, it can begin to lift, the triggers that cause it can start subsiding. Then a new trigger will appear, or a new symptom or tension elsewhere will occur unexpectedly. Given the right set of circumstances, this new bout of anxiety can grow to take the place of what you thought you had defeated.
This isn’t what I would have thought of as a mood piece, but all of a sudden — in an odd way — it seemed to apply. So for the mood, “The Blues,” I selected this image: “A New Patch of Blues.”

This is quite lovely, and very poignant. I don’t think it is a lame attempt at all…it is thought provoking. I have a beautiful plant on my back porch, that blooms every day at 4:00 PM. It always reminds me that in the cool of night, will soon ease what is hurting me, and soon it bring me some rest in the evening air. Lovely choice as always.
Always, Carly

I think it is a great interpretation. However, hydrangeas cheer me up!

Mood, sometimes we never know what mood we are in until something jolts us one way or the other!
