Demands for Proof
February 9, 2010 – 12:02 am | No Comment

I hear it all the time: people, particularly non-believers, who challenge a believer to “prove that their God exists.”
The challenge comes, usually, because the challengers already know what’s going to happen: the believer, invariably, won’t satisfactorily prove the existence of God, no matter what they come up with.  Which is, of course, the main reason the challenge is …

Saturday Six -Episode 169

Submitted by Patrick on July 14, 2007 – 4:14 pm | 11 Comments

Recently, Steven Colbert, of Comedy Central fame, visited his old stamping grounds of Charleston. Colbert was honored by ice cream giant Ben & Jerry’s with a flavor created in his honor. “AmeriCone Dream” is a mixture of vanilla ice cream, fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl.

Just recently, another Lowcountry resident won a national contest to create her own flavor of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Jae Hegley’s “Southern Hospitality,” features vanilla swirled with pineapple, roasted pecans and a strawberry swirl.

Ice cream — and desserts in general — becomes the subject of this week’s questions!

But first, Wil of “The Daily Snooze” was first to play last week. Congratulations, Wil!

Here are this week’s “Saturday Six” questions. Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your journal…but either way, leave a link to your journal so that everyone else can visit! To be counted as “first to play,” you must be the first player to either answer the questions in a comment or to provide a complete link to the specific entry in your journal in which you answer the questions. A link to your journal in general cannot count. Enjoy!

1. What is your absolute favorite dessert?

2. When is the last time you had it?

3. If you had to give up one of the following for life: cookies, cake, ice cream, pie, or chocolate, which would you choose never to try again?

4. Take the quiz: What flavor of ice cream are you?

5. If you attempted to make the dessert you like best, how well do you think it would turn out?

6. If you were going to invent your own flavor of ice cream to be carried by a company like Ben & Jerry’s, what ingredients would you require?

If you have a Reader’s Choice question you’d like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I’d love to be able to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.

MY ANSWERS:
1. Cheesecake Olivia at Outback

2. It has been more than a year.

3. Pie, as long as cheesecake can be classified as “cake.”

4. You Are Strawberry Ice Cream

A bit shy and sensitive, you are sweet to the core.
You often find yourself on the outside looking in.
Insightful and pensive, you really understand how the world works.

You are most compatible with chocolate chip ice cream.

5. Not very well at all…unless it’s the kind that I can buy in the freezer section and just thaw.

6. Figure out away to combine cheesecake, caramel syrup, graham cracker pieces for the crust, and a light layer of whipped cream and I’m there.
