Mike’s Moxie
Two days ago, 89-year-old Mike Wallace, one of my all-time favorite journalists, underwent triple bypass surgery, CBS has revealed.
Today, he took his first steps since the procedure that doctors are calling a success.
Heart surgery. At 89.
I think if I had heart surgery at 39, I’d be off my feet for at least a week. Hell, the pain would probably be enough for me to request being placed in a medically-induced coma for a good month-and-a-half.
May we all be going that strong just months from the big 9-0!

Cliff had a 4-way bypass in April, 2006, at the “tender” age of 61. He says the pain is beyond imagining. But he also is thankful for a second chance at life.
We do what we must when the time comes.

I remember in ? 1977 my grandfather had heart attack & doctors were telling them he was too old to have heart surgery. He would have been 65 yrs old. He found someone who did do it & he lived another 11 yrs! That would have been 11 yrs off his life & me without a grandpa! I would really like to go back to the doctors now & give them a piece of my mind! People are healthier in even later years now and just about all surgeries they get you going right away…back, knee…heck they throw you out of the hospital in 24 hrs after having a baby!

Good for him! I’m glad to hear that he was able to have the procedure done and is doing well!
