Saturday Six – Episode 203

It’s going to be a busy Saturday, so I wanted to get this week’s edition of the Saturday Six up as early as possible. This week, the topic is puzzles.

Here are this week’s “Saturday Six” questions. Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your journal…but either way, leave a link to your journal so that everyone else can visit! To be counted as “first to play,” you must be the first player to either answer the questions in a comment or to provide a complete link to the specific entry in your journal in which you answer the questions. 1. What was the first board game you remember playing?

2. When you last played a crossword puzzle, did you look up any of the answers before you finished?

3. Did you ever own a Rubik’s Cube? If so, were you ever able to solve it on your own?

4. Take the quiz: What Kind of Puzzle Are You?

5. You decide to buy yourself a jigsaw puzzle: what kind of image are you most likely to buy: a landscape, an image of an animal, a sports hero, or a shot from a popular movie?

6. Have you ever tried Sudoku? How easy did you find it (or would you think you would find it) to be?

    Hi Patrick,

    It’s been awhile. Thought I’d try to get reacquainted. A great Saturday 6. I love puzzles and games.

    1. I don’t really have a real early memory of a board game, but we played a lot when I was a kid. This was long before video games and the like. I’m sure the first one I played was a simple one like Chutes and Ladders.

    2. The last crossword puzzle I worked was last Sunday’s New York Times puzzle. I always have to “cheat” on them when I get stuck.

    3. I had a Rubik’s Cube, but could never figure the damned thing out.

    4. Apparently, I’m like a jigsaw puzzle.

    5. I’m liable to buy almost any kind of jigsaw puzzle — whatever looks cool. I’d probably lean toward a landscape, but the other choices sound good too.

    6. I’ve turned into something of a Sudoku fanatic. I didn’t think I’d like them, but once I figured out the premise of the game, they’re generally pretty easy to figure out. Of course, some take a little longer to figure out than others.
