Ever Seen This?

Last Updated on December 23, 2009

The original opening of Gilligan’s Island — from the pilot — was nowhere near the familiar theme song we grew up with.

Have a look for yourself:

Not bad, but I still like the familiar one better.&nbsp  Which do you prefer?

  • It’d definitely get tiresome, but I suspect that if they had kept that open, subsequent episodes would have featured a substantial cutdown of the full version.

  • This was not part of the original syndication packages, but TBS ended up with it when they had the rights and made a big deal of broadcasting the “lost” pilot and theme around 20 years ago. It’s interesting, but it would get awfully tiresome week after week.

  • Seen this one – in the reruns it showed up occasionally, if I remember correctly. It was always weird – not the right song, and changed up the characters a bit. Good find.
