Quiet Interrupted

Posted by in Hurricanes, Weather

For a couple of months now, we’ve had no sign of tropical trouble, at least not in the Atlantic.  In the Pacific, they’re now dealing with Hurricane Guillermo.  Up until a few days ago, we hadn’t even seen our “A” storm on this side of the country.

Tropical Storm Ana got a lot of attention when it finally formed in the Atlantic.  Tropical Storm Bill formed right behind Ana.  Then all of a sudden, Tropical Storm Claudette appeared in the Gulf.  The ladies settled down pretty quickly: Ana and Claudette are now both tropical depressions, so there’s probably not a lot of damage to come from either of them unless they cause flooding from lots of rain.

Bill is now a hurricane and it’s in that area where it could go several different directions, including ours.  By Friday, the official forecast calls for it to still be in the Atlantic, but moving closer to Virginia.  But storms have made sudden, dramatic turns before.

I liked it a lot better when all was quiet.
