Another Proud Moment for SC

Remember that angry politician who interrupted President Obama during his address to a joint session of Congress?  Obama had just said that his health care plan would not provide coverage for illegal aliens and someone yelled out, “You lie!”

Would anyone care to venture a guess about where the person to whom the voice belongs is from?

Yes, as if the ongoing scandal involving our governor isn’t enough to give this state a black eye, we have Republican Rep. Joe Wilson pitching in with another shot in the arm.

Perhaps a lot of outrage give Wilson a nice little assist in regaining his composure (and some sense of decorum).  Wilson has issued the following statement after the furor:

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

Lack of civility?

How about behaving like an unruly kindergartener.

It’s about time that our politicians — on both sides of the aisle — stop stop all the shouting.  It’s time they start actually listening to each other for a change.

What a nice change that would be in Washington!

That, more than anything else, is why we don’t already have a workable health care reform package passed.

Oh boy do I agree! I actually have a letter ready to send to the president. I loved his speech, especially from when he began with Senator Kennedy on. He had me in tears!

And Boustany (sp?) afterwards…what a crock! I not only play a doctor I was one! Right! Why do you have to scrap everything & start again…because then you get nothing else done and it will look bad on the President also. We are not that stupid & see right through all of that. You are stating then nothing in there is good. What happened to seeing the good & keeping that & then changing what you disagree with. It is that same polarity which is causing the country to also show polarity and fight so much.

And we wonder why kids talk back when adults like him model this behavior!

Hear hear! [plus, it wasn't a lie, which makes the Honourable Gentleman from South Carolina a liar himself]

Also, I love this photo. The expression on the three faces are priceless. Ain’t nobody smiling, and each face is clearly saying “Shut up!” but with varying points of emphasis. Pelosi is doing her best “OMG–I can’t believe you people!” face and Biden is adding multiple expletives to the basic sentence. Obama looks disapproving and sort of “Are you quite finished?”

Craig Ferguson gave South Carolina hell on his late, late show on CBS.(Craig’s a Scotsman who became a US citizen.)
He added “Hey South Carolina congressman – it’s not the Jerry Springer Show.”
