Demands for Proof

I hear it all the time: people, particularly non-believers, who challenge a believer to “prove that their God exists.”
The challenge comes, usually, because the challengers already know what’s going to happen: the believer, invariably, won’t satisfactorily prove the existence of God, no matter what they come up with.  Which is, of course, the main reason the challenge is …

Ethics Panel: Governor Should Face Charges

And the good news just keeps rolling out of the Palmetto State.

The ethics panel investigating travel and campaign finance records of Governor Mark Sanford says it believes he should face charges he violated state laws.

Sanford disappeared for several days this summer after telling his staff that he was going hiking in the mountains. But it was discovered that he had actually left the country without placing anyone else in charge to visit a woman in Argentina with whom he admitted having an affair.

Specifics of the charges for which the panel thinks probable cause exists are expected to be released next week.

The governor’s office, naturally enough, isn’t commenting. Funny how that works.

I wonder how much of his time is spent on governing and how much of it goes to defending himself against charges.

One thing is for sure, though: it’s a good thing he didn’t just resign as pretty much everyone else asked him to, as that might mean that this whole fiasco would no longer be in the spotlight. Chewing on the same piece of gum for months on end is a real treat.
