Monday’s Morals – Episode 23
The day after Thanksgiving will be a crazy day in retail. In some cases, Thanksgiving Day itself will be crazy, because more stores are toying with the idea of trying to cash in on those who aren’t too packed full of turkey and dressing to get up and shop after dinner.
But often those specials that look too good to be true are…at least from the standpoint of stores that stock only a handful of the items that are advertised as “door beater” sales, those ridiculously-big bargains that everyone knows going in that the stores won’t have many of.
Most stores refuse to issue rainchecks, which means if you’re not among the first five or six people through the door (or if you can’t run fast enough), then you’re probably out of luck.
That’s the background for this week’s question.

THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:
Should stores advertising major deals on Christmas items be forced to stock a minimum number of those items, or be forced to issue rainchecks on them (provided the rainchecks are issued within a set time limit only during the sale itself)? Why or why not?
If you have a Reader’s Choice question you’d like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I’d love to be able to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.

Welcome to Patrick’s Place, home of the Saturday Six and the Sunday Seven.

No. They should be able to sell their items for whatever price they want, in any manner they find befitting. It would certainly be nice if the playing field was a bit more level in this regard, but if it helps bring the crowd in, then more power to them, I guess.
I’m curious to see if we get any casualties this year as people shove each other to the ground or through glass in order to beat others to those great savings.
