Saturday Six – Episode 297
With Christmas now less than a week away — how is that even possible? — I figured now would be a good time to ask a set of questions about one of the most familiar symbols of the season: the Christmas tree!
- First to play last week: Diana of Diana’s Little Corner in the Nutmeg State. Congratulations!
(According to the rules, “First to Play” requires you to be the first to include the link to the specific entry in which you answered the questions, not just the general link to your blog.)
Here are this week’s “Saturday Six” questions. Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your journal…but either way, leave a link to your journal so that everyone else can visit! Permission is not granted to copy the questions to message boards for the purpose of having members answer and play along there. Enjoy!
1. Have the Christmas trees you or your closest relatives have put up more often been real or artificial?
2. How do you prefer Christmas decorations on a tree to look: more uniform within a certain color scheme or design or with a lot of variance?
3. Christmas ornaments as a Christmas gift: good idea or bad?
4. Take the quiz: The Christmas Tree Test
5. What’s the most unusual Christmas tree you remember from your childhood?
6. What’s your worst Christmas tree experience?
If you have a Reader’s Choice question you’d like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I’d love to be able to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.

My answers are posted here… http://dianacorner.blogspot.com/2009/12/saturday-six-episode-297.html#links
Have a good holiday!
This one got me thinking about the silver pom-pom tree of my childhood.
Thanks!

No childhood should be complete without a silver Christmas tree!
Ok, clicked the wrong thing and all my answers went the way of the Dodo. So here we go again, abridged this time.
1. Have the Christmas trees you or your closest relatives have put up more often been real or artificial?
Real. Fake is fake, cheap, and spiritless.
2. How do you prefer Christmas decorations on a tree to look: more uniform within a certain color scheme or design or with a lot of variance?
No design, scheme, or plan. Make it look random, like trees are. Lively.
3. Christmas ornaments as a Christmas gift: good idea or bad?
About as great an idea as socks or chocolate from Dollar General.
4. Take the quiz: The Christmas Tree Test
It says I am the optimistic one. Somebody uncorked early.
5. What’s the most unusual Christmas tree you remember from your childhood?
None. They were all pretty uniform.
6. What’s your worst Christmas tree experience?
I don’t have one. Never caught one on fire or anything. However, my father’s an alcoholic, so when you take the tree out of the equation, I can think of some stories.
1. Have the Christmas trees you or your closest relatives have put up more often been real or artificial?
When I was a kid it was real, but when we grew up it has always been artificial.
2. How do you prefer Christmas decorations on a tree to look: more uniform within a certain color scheme or design or with a lot of variance?
It was a family tradition to decorate the tree with pretty much everything we had – kid made ornaments, etc. I’ve seen the really formal trees and they’re nice but they’re not family trees, imho.
3. Christmas ornaments as a Christmas gift: good idea or bad?
I wouldn’t do it in my family because I know my mom wouldn’t like it – she’s the type of person that gets annoyed that people put up decorations too early and the day after Christmas she is putting everything away. So there wouldn’t be much point in getting her ornaments (which she doesn’t put on the tree anymore anyway – now it is just lights). But if it were a tradition in someone’s family I think it could be neat as well as relatively inexpensive.
4. Take the quiz: The Christmas Tree Test
You are Brightly Optimistic
During the holidays, you’re the one who has a bit of cheer for everyone.
Even when things get hectic and chaotic, you keep on smiling.
You believe it’s important to have a spirit of generosity and gratitude all the time… but especially this time of year.
You get more satisfaction from giving than receiving. You’re always going out of your way to improve someone’s day a little.
5. What’s the most unusual Christmas tree you remember from your childhood?
They were all the same.
6. What’s your worst Christmas tree experience?
None.
