Laser Zaps Away Unwanted Eye Color
Posted by Patrick in Health, Odd
A California scientist says he can turn brown eyes blue. The experimental procedure involves a laser that destroys the natural brown pigment melanin in the iris, the ring-shaped, colored part of the eye.
The color change then occurs gradually over a few weeks after the 20-second treatment.
At least one ophthalmologist worries that the treatment could cause a form of glaucoma from the release of destroyed pigment.
I suspect, however, that this won’t necessarily stop people with brown eyes for trying for the chance to have some baby blues.
If the treatment was truly proven safe, and was developed enough so that you could take the color of your eyes — brown or any other color — and make them into an alternate color, would you consider undergoing the treatment yourself?
I have hazel eyes, and I’d definitely consider it if I knew it was a safe procedure. I’d love blue eyes. Or even full-green eyes.
What would be your color of choice, or would you stick with what you have now?

I would pass for the same reason I've avoided laser surgery to correct my eyesight. No matter how much testing they do or how well they do it, they can't know the long term (10, 15,20 year) effects of these surgeries. I'd rather have poor eyesight than risk having none at all.
