I’m working on an issue that occasionally sends certain comments to WordPress’s trash can rather than into the normal moderation queue. I’m not sure why it’s happening, but I’m definitely seeing it happen, and a few of you who have fallen victim have complained about leaving the same comment several times without it ever appearing as “awaiting moderation.”
If you leave me a comment, even if it goes to the trash, I will see it. It may take me slightly longer to see it, but I’ll definitely have a look.
But as much as I appreciate someone taking the time to leave a comment, the last thing I want is for them to end up beating their head against a wall after trying to leave the same comment three, four or even five times and still wondering if any of them made it through.
I’ve temporarily turned off the feature that requires you to click a little box that indicates that you are not a spambot. If I don’t see any comments magically sent to the trash over the next few days, I’ll blame that plugin as the culprit.
If it’s still happening, I may turn that one back on and suspend another of the comment spam watchdog plugins I have in operation.
Rest assured that I am working on it and I apologize for anyone who has felt that their comment somehow got missed.
I’ve only had an issue with comments when I try to leave them from my phone. It happened again this morning so I figured I’d try it from the desktop, and saw my double comment.
You know, the real shame of all this is the reality of the internet world we live in today. Spam bots are evil, and must be destroyed! I’m sorry you are having this difficulty, but then it could be much worse: no comments at all! 🙂
