I don’t know about anyone else, but with temperatures hovering around 100 for the past week, with heat indices topping out around 118°, I’m ready for wintertime.
I stop short of pointing to “global warming” for this immediate bout of hot weather, since it is August and summer. If you can’t expect unreasonably warm, even uncomfortable weather at this time of the year, then you’ve missed a memo.

Some weighty questions this week and my favorite topic — Food 😉
1. What is your favorite flavor of chicken wings? How many do you generally order at a time?
I’ve never had them.
2. How often do you check out a restaurant’s nutrition information before going there to have dinner?
I don’t bother at a restaurant – I’ll read it if it is in the menu or something, but not before hand, except for fast food because I use that data in the statistics class I teach.
3. If you have ever done so, what was your biggest surprise in reading the calorie or fat counts?
I knew it was bad, but it can be surprising how bad.
4. Take the quiz: What does your pizza say about you?
Your appetite is pretty average. You don’t go overboard – but you don’t deprive yourself either.
You are a very picky pizza eater. Not any pizza will do. You fit in best in the Northeast part of the US.
You favor foods that are simple and high quality. You believe that showy ingredients only serve to cover up mediocre cooking techniques.
You are dependable, loyal, and conservative with your choices.
You are definitely unique and artistically inclined. You should consider traveling to Prague.
The stereotype that best fits you is hippie. You knew it was coming.
5. What style of food do you think is generally served at what you’d consider the most romantic of restaurants?
Italian!

I’m all for taste – it can be hot, but if it is hot only without the flavor, it’s a waste.
