Beck Eyes Blindness

Last Updated on December 8, 2019

Conservative commentator Glenn Beck may go blind within a year.

Or he may not.

That’s the explanation he received from his doctor after being diagnosed with macular dystrophy.

Beck has revealed his situation on radio and television, joking that he went to the best doctor he could find while he could still go to the best doctor he could find, an obvious, if tired, slam at healthcare reform.

Somehow, if that’s the best the doctor could do in explaining the situation, I don’t know why he wouldn’t be calling for healthcare reform on that score alone.

Beck said he then asked if macular dystrophy was that “Jerry Lewis thing.” Lewis, as everyone knows, holds his telethon every year to raise money for muscular dystrophy.

I shudder to think how much complaining Beck might have done if a Democrat made a joke at the expense of children who suffer from any of the forty neuromuscular diseases the Muscular Dystrophy Association fights.

Then working up a nice flood of tears, Beck added, “Lord, if you need my eyes, they’re yours.”

Frankly, I don’t think the Lord needs Beck’s eyes at all. I think the Lord is perfectly capable of spotting what’s going on with the clearest of vision.

Wouldn’t it be nice if more people could do that?
