Saturday Six #430

saturday sixStockfresh

I hope you all had a great Fourth of July, and if you’re like me, you’re spending this weekend recovering from the disruption that the mid-week holiday had to your schedule. Thursday felt like a Monday to me, and it was about ten times worse than the week’s real Monday had been. I’m just glad Friday actually felt like a Friday!

Be sure to check back this week and click on the links of bloggers who play along in the comments below! It’s a great way to find blogs you may not have visited and keep the conversation going!

Here are this week’s “Saturday Six” questions. Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your blog… But don’t forget to leave a link to your blog so that everyone else can visit! Permission is not granted to copy the questions to message boards for the purpose of having members answer and play along there. Enjoy!

1. What did you do on July 4th?

2. Do you prefer to watch a fireworks show in person or on television?

3. Which Disney character is your favorite?

4. You’re driving downtown in traffic and the only parking place you find requires tight parallel parking: do you try it or drive around the block again and hope for the best?

5. Have you ever had a penpal, and if so, where were they?

6. What city have you visited that you once thought you’d never see in person?

If you have a Reader’s Choice question you’d like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I’d love to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.

  • 1. Nothing out of the ordinary; it was a day like any other.
    2. In person, I guess. I’ve never really been wild about them. Fireworks are neat for about five minutes; then it’s just repetition.
    3. Donald Duck.
    4. Depends on what I am driving. Parallel parking in a Volvo sedan – no problem. But trying to manage it in a van or something…no thanks.
    5. I have had a few, but those friendships very extremely short-lived.
    6. Dallas, Texas.

  • 1. I played 9 holes of golf with my grandpa in the morning, and we relaxed for the day, then went out for a nice dinner with a few of my grandparents’ friends. No fireworks, unfortunately, since it’s too hard for my grandparents to find a nice place to watch them from (limited mobility, back issues, etc.).
    2. I love ’em in person, but it can be trying to stake out parking/a seat/navigate the crowds.
    3. Hmm…I’d say Simba.
    4. I’d pass it by. I’m not great at parallel parking, and I know the pain of being stuck behind someone trying to park and they’re failing miserably!
    5. Yes — in the same state, but far enough away that I didn’t meet them.
    6. Paris.

  • 1. We didn’t do anything special on July 4th.  I was in a parade on July 3rd, however. 🙂
    2. I like both, actually.  Around here, there is always a traffic issue when you go to leave to go home so you get home so late. If a show has music along with it, then it might be difficult to hear the music when you view it live.  Watching them on TV is best in this case.  Ideally, I’d prefer to see them in person but only if I can hear the music and the traffic isn’t awful leaving the show.
    3. Eeyore
    4. It depends.  If there is a lot of traffic that I’d hold up while I try to park, then I’d go around the block.  If not, I’d give it a chance.  It appears that I do better at parallel parking when I don’t feel rushed.
    5. I did – in middle school French class we all had pen pals from France.  Our teacher knew an English teacher who taught in France so this benefited both classes. We only wrote a couple letters, though.
    6. I can’t think of any that apply here.
