“Imagine, if you will, sitting down to your morning coffee and turning on your home computer to read the day’s newspaper.”
That revolutionary idea was proposed at the start of a 1981 KRON-TV news story about this little thing called the internet and how some newspapers were trying to invest money on making some of their content available for people to use in a revolutionary way.
It’s amazing how primitive it looked back then, and it’s a wonder anyone was impressed enough to stick with it this long.  See for yourself:
Part of me wonders how long it’ll be before a news report begins something like this:
“There was once a time when people started their day with a cup of coffee and the morning’s news printed with ink on paper, if you can imagine such a thing.”
Not far off, I suspect. It can’t be too much longer before our computers and TVs cease to be separate entities. I suspect this digital TV change will be the last obstacle.
