Loyalty to the End

As if the video of the dog who saved his home from fire isn’t amazing enough, here’s another great animal video. This time, it involves two squirrels, one of which has died.

I wasn’t aware that squirrels were particularly loyal to their “mates,” but if that is not a characteristic of the species, someone forgot to tell that to this little guy, who you’ll see after the jump.

When birds started approaching the carcass, the other squirrel tried to chase them away. Towards the end of the video, you’ll see him do something absolutely extraordinary to protect his friend.
