Next Bloggab (12/17): Critique Night VIII

#Bloggab is a weekly Twitter chat about personal blogging. Join us each Tuesday night at 9pmET. You can always find transcripts of past editions here.

Our monthly Critique Night happens the third Tuesday of each month, and it’s a great opportunity to look at a blog and watch feedback from readers live. (We hope you’ll add in your own as well.)

Yes, it may seem a bit intimidating: we find three bloggers who are willing to offer up their blogs for a fifteen minute critique by the group. We always ask that the critique and feedback be constructive and positive, and that’s what we receive week after week.

But yes, it’s very informative, because even if your blog isn’t on the critique list, you’re welcome to chime in and offer your first impressions and suggestions on what you might do differently or how you might improve things. Each time we’ve done a Critique Night, there have been great ideas that most of us could use on our own blogs!

As I’ve said before, it’s easy to view our own blog as our “child”, which means it’s often too easy to overlook the imperfections that could be turning visitors away before they ever have the chance to sample what we’re offering.

Please drop by these blogs and make some notes about what you like and anything you’d like to see but don’t.

A Foodie’s Nightmare
by @MelodyBarber86
“One woman’s journey to putting down the chocolate and finding happiness through healthy changes.”
My main bad habit and reason for this blog is that I have terrible eating habits and even worse habits when it comes to working out. I lead a sedentary lifestyle full of fattening foods, I have learned these habits from family, friends, my husband, and my own poor choices. These terrible habits are the reason that I am considered morbidly obese at 282 lbs, down from 315 so far, I am borderline diabetic and I have high blood pressure. I’m suffering from health problems due to my weight and I am the only one that can change it. So here is my chance to change my habits, fix my health, and lead a happier healthier lifestyle. Follow me on my journey to a better me.

We have three great blogs to have a look at this evening, and I hope you’ll join us on Twitter at 9pmET.
