Angry Dad Gets Payback for Phone Call

Every now and then, you run across an idea that’s just so clever — and devious — that you just have to make note of it for any possible future need of your own.

Such is the case of a Virginia father who was awakened at 4:30am Wednesday by a school district robocall alerting parents that school was on a two-hour weather delay that morning.

But the dad says already knew this before he went to bed.

So this guy, who happens to be an attorney, decided to demonstrate how much hell payback can actually be for an early-morning phone call, by recording his own message that he delivered via homemade “robocall” to the school district superintendent along with nine school board members:

“This is a Prince George’s County School District parent, calling to thank you for the robocall yesterday at 4:30 in the morning. I decided to return the favor. While I know the school district wanted to ensure I drop my child off two hours late on a snow day, I already knew that before I went to bed. I hope this call demonstrates why a 4:30 a.m. call does more to annoy than to inform.’ Quit robocalling parents at 4:30 in the morning or at least allow us to opt out of these intrusive calls.”

The school board claims the too-early call happened because of what they describe as a “glitch.” But they definitely got the parent’s message.

Gotta love his ingenuity.

  1. Or… he could have saved the trouble and just called to complain the next day… Eish! And being an attorney, you know darn well that he'd have raised a stink if he'd have gotten no notification. Seems you can't win for trying nowadays.
