8 Things that Happened to Me Today
- I spent seven hours waiting for a promo to upload to an FTP site only to crash before it finished.
- Realized that in the time it took this spot to make it 77% of the way to this FTP site in Atlanta, I could literally have driven a tape there.
- I went to my church at lunch hour to meet a guy there who needed to get in, only to find out that someone else with a key arrived moments before I did, so he didn’t need me after all.
- Lost a logo for a commercial through an email crash, had to call the ad agency in Colorado to get them to resend it…made air with 9 minutes to spare.
- Discovered that another computer failure meant several other promos I had earlier sent to the spot player didn’t make it there after all, so I had to get them into the system the “old fashioned way.”
- Was reminded definitively that in many cases, the “old fashioned way”  is still superior
- Had to stay so late at work that I missed a Christmas party being thrown by some friends of mine that I wanted to attend
- Got frustrated all over again after reliving these moments for this meme.

And I just realized I don’t have 8 favorites.
8 Things that happened…would have to be yesterday, as today hasn’t geared up yet–
1. Found myself still washing walls, baseboards, chair rail in desperate attempt to reclaim home after 22 months of neglect for obsessive politics.
2. Found myself still wrapping Christmas gifts.
3. Realized I had yet to convert menus for Christmas Eve, Christmas brunch and dinner to grocery list…
4. Took a good look at menus. Realized shopping for holiday food would require at least two trips.
5. Thought about the import of buying so much food I couldn’t get it all home in one trip: I’ll be cooking non-stop for days. Realized I may be getting too old for all this stuff.
6. Fell off stepladder. Forgot I was on it cleaning blinds and stepped backward. No serious injuries.
7. So glad nothing broke after ladder accident I skipped merrily along to answer the phone. Ran into table on the way and broke a toe.
8. Decided I deserved a treat. TWO glasses of wine with dinner.
8 Things I pray for:
1. Family and friends
2. An end to Bush’s war
3. Access to affordable quality healthcare
4. An end to poverty, genocide, ignorance, hatred, intolerance
5. Strength when I need it and more compassion
6. President-elect Obama and family
7. The rebirth of my country
