Saturday 6: 35 Social Networking Facts

Did you know Pinterest is where millennials shop? I didn’t, but it’s one of the 35 facts about social media we’re serving up in this week’s Saturday Six.

Let’s begin.

1. I need to try this ‘Chicken Bog’ thing.

I’ve made something that resembles the Chicken Bog depicted in this recipe, although mine is made with diced chicken, rice cooked in a combination of water and cream of chicken soup, and some spices. I’ve never tried adding any kind of smoked sausage, although turkey kielbasa sounds like it could be a good idea. Have you ever tried a recipe like this?

2. Loyal Dog Waits Seven Days Outside Hospital Doors For Owner

Here’s a story about a dog who is so loyal that he stood outside the hospital, waiting for his owner. This dog followed the ambulance that was carrying his owner, and outside the hospital, he waited there for more than a week. There was bad news about the owner, but good news, at least, for his companion.

3. How Much Damage Can a Dinner Roll Do?

Apparently, given the right throw and the wrong catch, plenty. A woman is suing a Missouri restaurant known for throwing dinner rolls to (or at) guests as part of their image. She’s suing for eye injuries she says she suffered as a result.

4. 12 Habits You Should Kick Before You Hit 30

When you reach the milestone of being 30, there should be certain bad habits you have been able to let go of; so says Lifehack. Here’s their list. How many have you managed to let go of so far?

5. ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Reboot in Development

Do we really need to “reboot” everything? Can’t some shows just be left alone? I guess not…at least, not in the case of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which ran on NBC from 1990 to 1996 and helped introduce Will Smith to the world. Smith is reportedly on-board as a producer for a new version. I think they should have just come up with a new concept instead of trying to rework something that’s already been done. But hey, I guess they’re running out of ideas these days. Did you watch the original? Would you watch a new version?

6. 35 Stupendous Social Networking Facts and Stats

I started this post with a fact about Pinterest. Here’s one about Facebook: Each day, there are 350 million photos uploaded; 45 billion “Like” buttons clicked; and 10 billion messages sent. Who knew? Well, you’ll know when you check out these 33 other social media facts.

Thanks for dropping by for another edition of the new Saturday Six!

  1. The closest I’ve come to the chicken bog recipe is my chicken and rice casserole. It contains mushrooms, though, and no sausage. That does sound like an interesting dish.
