Saturday Six #428

saturday sixStockfresh

Most of us remember waking up to our parents reading the morning’s newspaper. &nbsp Today, more people are likely to read the newspaper online than print, it seems, but it’s still an important way to start the day for many Americans.

So let’s see what we can learn about each other from our own newspaper habits.

Be sure to check back this week and click on the links of bloggers who play along in the comments below! It’s a great way to find blogs you may not have visited and keep the conversation going!

Here are this week’s “Saturday Six” questions. Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your blog… But don’t forget to leave a link to your blog so that everyone else can visit! Permission is not granted to copy the questions to message boards for the purpose of having members answer and play along there. Enjoy!

1. Do you currently subscribe to any newspaper, local or national?

2. How often do you actually read a newspaper, online or print?

3. Do you ever clip coupons from a newspaper to use in stores?

4.&nbsp Which section of the newspaper do you usually read before anything else?

5. Which section of the newspaper would you say is your favorite?

6. Have you ever written a letter to the editor and, if so, was it published?

If you have a Reader’s Choice question you’d like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I’d love to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.

  • 1. I subscribe to 2, Sundays only. One was a free year to the local paper, the other I only pay $1 a week.
    2. I read the Sunday paper and the occasional article online that I discover from my Twitter stream.
    3. The reason I have the subscription for the paper is the coupons. I more than make up the cost, even though I don’t eat processed foods.
    4. Coupons first, then front page.
    5. Arts and Books
    6. Nope.

  • 1. Nope.  I don’t currently subscribe to a newspaper. It’s mostly a matter of timing.  I like the Harrisburg paper and subscribed for years.  It’s a morning paper and I enjoyed reading it before I left for work.  Then the company began delivering it after I had left for work so I didn’t get to read it until after work. By this time, it was mostly old news.  We have a paper from a closer city that is an evening paper but that paper is so small that it isn’t worth the money, in my opinion.
    2. I look at our local newpaper’s website maybe once a week.
    3. No.  I buy so few brand name products that it makes little sense to clip coupons.
    4. Um… *blushes*  the comics
    5. Hmm… Well – I often enjoy the editorials.
    6. Yes. Several.  And yes.  They were published.
