Which apps do you use most often on your phone or tablet? Mashable just released a list of the 10 Most Popular iPhone Apps of 2012. To their surprise — and most everyone else’s, given the trouble it experienced, Apple Maps not only made the list, but ranked #1!
When I’m relying on a map-based app, I generally use Mapquest. But recently, it gave me bum directions to a road it couldn’t even find, so I turned to Apple Maps, and despite all the jeers from critics who are only too delighted to discover any mistake Apple makes, their app got me exactly where I needed to go.
Some of the apps I use most often made the cut; others didn’t. Here what my list would look like:
My 7 Most-Used Apps in 2012
The basic “Clock” app is my backup alarm clock.
I check mail on my phone entirely too much. There, I admit it.
I keep track of meetings and appointments on the “Calendar” app. I also schedule little reminders for things I have to get done before the end of the day. (I realize I could use a separate task list app for that, but when I can place it all in one place, why not?
The main thing I use Twitter’s app for is checking for interactions and responding.
I don’t check Facebook via iPhone/iPad as often, because I usually have it open at work. (One of my many roles is in assisting with social media, so I have a valid excuse.)
Particularly on the iPad, I use Evernote to write drafts of blog posts as well as important notes and letters. If you haven’t tried Evernote, I highly recommend it. (And it’s free.)
I use the Kindle app far more than I pick up an actual book these days. But I’m not complaining: the technology makes transporting books easier, which makes me more likely to read when I have a few minutes of video rendering to do.
So here’s your chance. To play along, list your answers in a comment with this post, or post them on your own blog and comment here with the link to your post. That way more people get to see your blog!
