White House Banned ‘Too Revealing’ Vacation Photos

While there were several mentions of President Obama’s vacation in Hawaii in the news, there was one thing notably absent in coverage: shirtless photos of the Commander-in-Chief as he enjoyed the tropical paradise.

The White House banned reporters and photographers — believe it or not — from taking shirtless pictures of Obama while he snorkeled last week. The Huffington Post theorizes that the move was made to prevent a rash of shirtless Obama photos splattered all over the tabloids in 2008; those photos had been taken of the President-Elect while he was swimming in Hawaii.

It seems odd in this age of paparazzi that anyone could successfully impose any kind of photography ban on anything. In this case, at least, I’m glad they attempted it: that’s a sight I don’t need to see.
