A Nice Dog Story

I’m always a sucker for a good dog story, and Wil has a great one in his journal, “The Daily Snooze.”

The firefighter who rescued a mother dog and her puppies gets a big thank you from the mother dog herself. The picture there is priceless.

I have two dogs. I’ve had the male since he was a puppy, and he’s never gone hungry, never gone without water, or a soft place to sleep, or a without a roof over his head.

I adopted the female from a shelter group. She was a stray. She knows what it’s like to go hungry, thirsty and to have no place to call home. Every day, after they eat, she comes to me and gives me that kind of kiss for her dinner. The male doesn’t: it never occurs to him that the food wouldn’t be there. She knows what it’s like not to have it, and she appreciates it.

Dogs are a lot smarter than most people give them credit for. That’s why I like them better than a few of the people I know.
