Were You On or Off-Target in ’10?

I’m finalizing a list of goals for 2011, and I’m trying to look back on the past twelve months and see how far I’ve come. I really didn’t make that many goals going into this past year, so I don’t really have a measurable way to track some accomplishments I might have made.

One of my goals that I did make was to pay off the single biggest credit card bill I had when I started 2010. I managed to do that the second week of December, and I’ll start off in the month of January taking that monthly payment amount and adding it to the amount I normally make with the next-largest. By the end of 2011, I want that next-highest bill taken care of as well.

(If there are any overly-generous millionaires reading this, drop me a line via the Contact link up top. We’ll talk.)

Another goal I had was read more of the Bible and spend more time with God. I did read more of the Bible, but nowhere near as much as I would have liked to. I also want to continue to increase the amount of quiet time I spend in the coming year. I didn’t do as well on this in 2010, because I don’t do that well when the quiet time is truly quiet. But I feel like I made a little accomplishment in those areas in 2010, so I hope to build on that in 2011.

I also wanted to give more this past year than I have in years past. I know I managed to do that. My giving isn’t necessarily where it should be, but progress is progress.

I didn’t make any specific goals about my diet in 2010. And that shows. I lost some ground this year in terms of weight. So I’ll be hitting the gym I recently joined in ’11.

Overall, I guess I’d give myself a C+ for the year in terms of personal goals.

The good thing about that, at least, is that it gives me a head start in determining where I need to focus in the new year.
