Downsizing the Supersized

Last Updated on July 26, 2015

There is news that McDonald’s has made a decision to stop the madness over Supersizing fries and drinks. By the end of the year, the fast food giant will remove the “supersize” option from its menus. McDonald’s claims the move was prompted by the need to simplify the menu, which has seen growth in the number of new products made available. Personally, I suspect that they’re simply trying to prevent lawsuits from stupid people who need something besides their own gluttoney to blame for their weight.

The problem is, reducing the size of portions isn’t going to make people eat healthier. That decision has to be made by the customers themselves, not the restaurant. If the customer feels like he isn’t getting enough food, he’ll either order an “extra” cheeseburger, or he’ll go somewhere else that still has an extra-large size.

We’re fat and it’s our own fault!
