Let the Workouts Begin

Last night was my first workout since joining a new gym, and my first time on the dreaded elliptical crosstrainer in at least six months.  (Probably closer to nine.)

I actually like the elliptical.

I know, I know, I’ve never had nice things to say about that beast before.  In fact, it was me who suggested that Hell is actually an endless line of elliptical crosstrainers set on Cardio.

But as workouts go, I can spend less time on this machine and get more of a workout than most anything else I might choose in a gym.  I wanted to start slowly, since it has been a while, so I only set it for 16 minutes.  Combined with the cooldown that’s an automatic part of the computer’s workout system, I did a full 19 minutes.  I’m going to do my best to be more religious about going to the gym, even if that is all of the workout I get; after all, 20 minutes of aerobic exercise is definitely better than none at all.

I’m also trying to clean out the fridge, removing any food that shouldn’t be on my diet.  (Thanksgiving leftovers aren’t helping.)

Hopefully by this time next year, I’ll have a lot of progress to report.
