Signs of a Turnaround For TV?

For local television stations, automotive advertising can account for as much as 40% of revenue.  So when the carmakers faced a crisis that threatened their very existence, television stations across the country quickly felt the sting.

How’d you like to lose 40% of your income all of a sudden?

There may be small signs now that the future might be brightening up ever so slightly:  Advertising Age now reports that automakers are slowly and cautiously returning to cable and broadcast television.

There’s no guarantee that they’ll stay on the air, unless people get up and start buying again.  And who knows when that’ll be!

But if the carmakers are getting a shot in the arm, and they can give the broadcast industry a shot in the arm, it might just get some balls rolling.  That’d be nice.
