2010 Upfronts: The CW

If you want to know what shows will make up the fall lineup on The CW network, all you have to do, with just a few small exceptions, is have a look at last year’s lineup. Very little is changing this time around.

Then again, the network only programs two hours a night of prime time, so there are less slots where something actually can change.

Only three shows got the pink slip: Fly Girls, High Society and most notably, Melrose Place.

And only two new shows will make their debut in the fall, with a third coming as a midseason replacement.

The first will be Nikita. The USA Network series lasted five years and clearly that wasn’t enough for someone.

Hellcats focuses on a pre-law student who joins a cheerleading squad so she can stay in school after losing her scholarship.

Wow.

That midseason replacement — which, I’m guessing, might be called into service sooner rather than later — is Plain Jane, a makeover reality show with a twist: an average woman gets a new look so she can be taken on a date by a secret admirer. That could be interesting…if you’re into that kind of show. (I think I’ll pass.)

You can see The CW’s fall schedule can be found at TVSquad.
