The ‘Pizza ATM’ pizza dispenser is going for a test drive at Xavier University in Ohio where students can get a hot pizza immediately!
They definitely never had anything like this when I was in college…then again, now that they do, it might be even easier for the so-called “Freshman 15” to become a “Freshman 25!”
At Xavier, a pizza vending machine has been installed at one of the residence halls and will serve pizza pies topped with cheese, pepperoni or veggies. (Seriously, veggie? What’s the matter with people!)
Vocativ reports a medium 12-inch pizza sells for $9.
Vocativ also mentions the obvious:
Bells and whistles aside, vending machines are not exactly known for their quality food.
I mean it’s one thing to buy a 20-ounce soft drink. Or a bag of chips. Or candy bars. Even chewing gum.
But when you get into food that’s actually cooked and needs to be heated, one has to wonder how well it’s going to taste, not to mention how long it’ll take after a dorm-full of college students buy up all the pizza in the machine for the vending machine employees to show up with “refills.”
Though early reviews are said to be very positive when it comes to the new machine, it’s something I probably wouldn’t have bothered with. I tend to like “Meat Lovers”  or “Supreme”  versions of pizza pies.
What about you? Like the idea? Would you try a pizza dispensed from a machine like this?
For me, while a Pizza ATM might not do it for me, if Outback ever invents an “ATM” to serve up “Bloomin’ Onions”  and a ribeye, I’m in.
