Words, words, words. That’s the topic of this week’s set of questions!

Let’s just please try to keep the answers as clean as possible!

Be sure to check back this week and click on the links of bloggers who play along in the comments below! It’s a great way to find blogs you may not have visited and keep the conversation going!

Here are this week’s “Saturday Six” questions. Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your blog… But don’t forget to leave a link to your blog so that everyone else can visit! Permission is not granted to copy the questions to message boards for the purpose of having members answer and play along there. Enjoy!

1. Which word have you heard entirely too much this past week?

2. Which word have you not heard enough this week?

3. Which word do you wish everyone would learn how to spell correctly?

4. Which word do you wish everyone would learn how to pronounce correctly?

5. Which word would you like to ban completely?

6. Which words do you have more trouble saying: I’m sorry or Thank you?

If you have a Reader’s Choice question you’d like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I’d love to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.

  • 1. Which word have you heard entirely too much this past week?
The F word. It doesn’t bother or offend me at all, but I’ve watched four seasons of Californication back to back this past week and kind of could live without hearing it for a while.

    2. Which word have you not heard enough this week?
    Peace.

    3. Which word do you wish everyone would learn how to spell correctly?
    You’re.

    4. Which word do you wish everyone would learn how to pronounce correctly?
    Library.

    5. Which word would you like to ban completely?
    ######.

    6. Which words do you have more trouble saying: I’m sorry or Thank you
I’m sorry. Saying thank you is such a matter of social conditioning that I can say it without really thinking about it, much less actually meaning it; not so much the same with I’m sorry.

    • I have a word that drives me nuts… Paradigm. why isn’t it pronounced para – dig – um and why isn’t it spelled paradyn?

    • I have a word that drives me nuts… Paradigm. why isn’t it pronounced para – dig – um and why isn’t it spelled paradyn?

  • 1.  That one is easy:  “Sandusky”  I think it must be twice as bad here in central Pennsylvania.  We simply cannot get away from the scandal nor the trial.  I cannot wait for this whole thing to be over!
    2. How about “raise”?  As in, “Cathryn, we’re going to give you a raise.” I’ve not heard that in almost 3 years and I really need to hear it soon or consider a part-time job to supplement my income.
    3. I’d like everyone to learn the difference between their, there and they’re AND it’s and its and use them correctly. I’m not sure this is what you were going for but I couldn’t think of a single word that I often find misspelled.
    4. Lebanon – the city just south of where I live and the name of the county I live in – not the country.  Hint: It is not pronounced like the country. 😉
    5. I honestly can’t think of one that I’d ban.  I could hear a lot less of the word “####”, however.  That one grates on my nerves. (and yes.  I’m sure it has something to do with how it is used)
    6. Thank you – if it is a response to a compliment.  I don’t take compliments well but I’m trying to learn to do better.
